President's Message

Welcome to the conference issue of the Turf Line News. If you have been able to attend any or all of the previous five trips (1990,1995,1999,2002,2005) to Penticton, you already know that the venue is fantastic. The pre-conference CGSA seminar (Management Strategies for the Turfgrass System) will be held on Sunday featuring Dr. Joe Vargas. If you are unable to attend the pre conference seminar, Dr. Vargas will also be speaking during the WCTA sessions on Monday and Tuesday.
To start us off on Monday morning, we are pleased to have Lorna McLaren as our keynote speaker. Lorna will energize all that are in attendance with the topic "Master the moment: no matter what hits the fan". Following the keynote message there is a fantastic slate of session speakers, including a returning favourite in Larry Gilhuly, closing out the conference on Wednesday. Please note that there are several programs: Horticulture, Mechanics, Irrigation, Sportsfield, Golf Course and Companions. Each program includes all social events as well as the banquet on Tuesday night, which will entertain with the very funny, Herb Dixon. Please review the conference schedule which is posted in the conference section of this magazine. Hope to see you all in Penticton.
As this is my last President's Message, I would like to thank the members and board for all their support throughout the year. A special thanks to Bob, Charlotte, Viola and the conference team for consistently putting the interests of the association first.
